About U Choir 關於我們
Established in 1994, the University Choir, HKUSTSU seeks to promote the art of choral singing, arouse interest and to enhance the standard of choral singing of the undergraduates, postgraduates and the staff members from different schools of the University. Under the guidance and training of the Music Director, Mr. Chiang Wai Man, the University Choir progressed promisingly both in the building up of its performing repertoire as well as in the raising of its standard of performance.
Acting as the music ambassadors, the University Choir has also performed at different occasions and venues, both in and out of Hong Kong, such as The Annual Performance, HKUST Arts Festival Mini-concert and various school celebration events. Moreover, the University Choir has been the winner in the Open Classes session of The Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. Major choral piece performed included: Mahler's Symphonie No.2, PartⅡ of Mendelssohn's Oratorio Elijah, Vivaldi's Gloria and Elgar's Scene from Bavarian Highlands, etc. In addition, a Concert Tour is held every year for our members. Performances at universities in the mainland, Taiwan, and Singapore, such as National ZhungShan University, last year provided us with a golden opportunity for cultural exchange. The U-choir isn’t just about weekly rehearsals; there is more about us that makes us special. Social activities such as O Day and member gatherings have fostered links and nurtured friendships with our fellow members.
香港科技大學學生會合唱團成立於一九九四年，多年來在音樂總監暨指揮蔣慧民先生的帶領及訓練下，致力推廣合唱藝術，提升公眾興趣，並深化團員的歌唱造詣。現有團員來自各學系的本科生﹑研究生﹑畢業生及教職員等。
合唱團推廣音樂不遺餘力，每年均積極參與本地及海外演出，除周年匯演外，也參與校內外各項慶祝活動，更在香港校際音樂節各公開合唱組別比賽屢獲殊榮。曾演 出的大型曲目包括馬勒《第二交響曲》﹑孟德爾頌的神劇《以利亞》第二部份﹑韋發第《榮譽主頌》﹑艾爾加《巴伐利亞高地組曲》﹑韓德爾神劇《彌賽亞》第一部 份等。此外合唱團亦曾舉辦交流團，到內地﹑台灣及新加坡各知名大學如國立中山大學作交流演出，別具意義。除日常排練外，合唱團也時常舉辦不同聯誼活動如迎 新晚會等，務求增進各團員之間的友誼，締造歡樂氣氛。
