Brief Biography:

I received the combined B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering and B.IT. degree in Computer Science from the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia, in 2002, and  the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Sydney, Australia, in 2006.  Upon completing my PhD I was a Research Scientist at the Commonwealth Science and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), Australia.  In 2007, I joined the faculty within the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), where I am currently an Assistant Professor.  I am also a member of the Center for Wireless Information Technology at HKUST.

Some of my academic achievements include being awarded a 2006 Best Student Paper Award at IEEE ICASSP'06 (the premier IEEE conference on signal processing); being jointly awarded the 2006 Best Student Paper Award at IEEE VTC'06-Spring (the premier IEEE conference on vehicular technologies); and receiving the University Medal upon graduating from the Queensland University of Technology.
